TARG is privileged to announce partnership in International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) research project on “Investigating seafarer training needs for operating autonomous ships”. The project is funded by IAMU for USD 60,000 starting from May 2019 to May 2020. This research will conduct an extensive investigation to identify the education and training requirements for seafarers who will operate the autonomous ships in the near future. The findings of this research will  provide guidelines and a recommendatory framework which can be used by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) and the maritime regulators to revise training needs towards mentoring seafarers and equipping them with the expertise required. Together with partners from various countries including Australian Maritime College (AMC), University of Tasmania (UTAS) and Jade University of Applied Science; TARG as a representative of University of South-eastern Norway (USN) will contribute in all stages of the research and development of guidelines.
