On June 6th, two senior human factors researchers from Institute of energy technology (IFE), Halden; Alexandra Fernandes and Michael Hildebrandt visited TARG, USN. Alexandra and Michael belong to the ‘Automation and User monitoring’ group at IFE and have research interests in human performance assessment in safety-criticalsystems, Artificial Intelligence and Human factors and in transportation, Human-automation collaboration, etc.

 

There were discussions on common research interests and future collaboration possibilities between TARG and IFE in Research Council of Norway and European Union projects especially in autonomous ships (Human Factors issues) and human performance assessment in maritime training and operations.  There is also an on-going collaboration between TARG and IFE in InnoTraining project.  The visit was finished with a tour of the USN campus and simulator facilities.
