“COAST made it to the SFU 2019 final round “

The University of South-Eastern Norway (USN) is in the race of being the Norwegian Center for Excellence in Education (SFU) for the period 2020-2024. SFU-2019 application was a MARKOM 2020 project initiative through a consortium of four institutions (USN, NTNU, UiT and HVL) to establish the Center of Excellence in Maritime Simulator Training and Assessment (COAST).

SFU is initiated to recognize and stimulate excellence in Norwegian higher education. It is funded by the Ministry of Education and Research and currently administered by DIKU.

USN is pleased to host COAST consortium that made it to the second-round of the application in her first ever attempt. TARG played a vital role in the SFU application process on behalf of the Department of Maritime Operations at USN. An expert team of evaluators is expected to visit USN in early September for final assessment. The consortium is undergoing preparation for the evaluation process and three to four centers are planned to be awarded the SFU status this year.
